Children’s University of Applied Sciences 2025 – Interactive case studies enhance cybersecurity learning
On May 14, 2025, 22 children aged 10-12 from the Basel region participated in the FHNW Children’s University 2025 cybersecurity workshop. Janine Jäger and Hermann Grieder from the Digital Trust Competence Center at the School of Business FHNW led the session, focusing on educating young users about digital threats including cyberbullying, cybergrooming, phishing, and inappropriate content.This year’s program introduced a hands-on case study approach. Children worked in small groups to analyze real-world scenarios for each cybersecurity topic, identifying problems and developing practical solutions. The interactive format encouraged participants to share their own digital experiences while building critical thinking skills for online safety.Key topics covered included recognizing liars and scammers, handling cyberbullying situations, avoiding suspicious online shopping sites, preventing virus infections, and dealing with questionable messages and links.
