Advancing Innovation for Sustainable and Inclusive Social Good: Our Team’s Contribution to Society 5.0
We’re excited to share our recent participation in the 4th Conference on Society 5.0: Innovation for Sustainable and Inclusive Social Good. The event, held from June 26-28, 2024, at the University of Technology in Mauritius, brought together researchers from around the world to address the challenges and opportunities of our rapidly evolving technological landscape.

About Society 5.0
The Society 5.0 conference series, jointly organized by universities across five continents, aims to explore how emerging technologies can be harnessed to create a more sustainable, inclusive, and equitable world. This year’s conference emphasized the need for inclusive development, responsible AI usage, and bridging the digital divide.

Our Contributions
Our team was proud to present three papers at the conference, showcasing our ongoing research and commitment to advancing Society 5.0 principles:
- «A Case Study on Teaching Social Engineering to Swiss and Cameroonian University Students in a Virtual and Cross-Cultural Setting» by Hermann Grieder, Franka Ebai, Bettina Schneider, and Eyongabi Carlson Ngwa
- «CyMed: A Framework for Testing Cybersecurity of Connected Medical Devices» by Christopher Scherb, Adrian Hadayah, Luc Heitz, Hermann Grieder, and Petra Maria Asprion
- «Adopting Agile in Cybersecurity Management» by Petra Maria Asprion, Bettina Schneider, and Patrick Consonni
These presentations sparked engaging discussions and provided insights into cross-cultural education, medical device security, and agile methodologies in cybersecurity.
Workshop on Digital Trust
In addition to our paper presentations, we organized a workshop titled «Digital Trust – a crucial requirement for enabling Society 5.0.» Led by Petra Asprion and Hermann Grieder, this interactive session explored the multifaceted challenges of establishing digital trust as a basis of Society 5.0.

The workshop introduced Digital Trust and facilitated discussions on integrating trust into various aspects of technological advancement. Participants from diverse backgrounds contributed to a rich dialogue, addressing the question: «What are the essential components of a possible Digital Trust Framework in the context of a Society 5.0, allowing researchers to navigate the complex interplay between technological advances, ethical considerations, and global regulatory landscapes?»
